Bonjour Ariane, je n’ai pas reçu aucun message. Es-tu bien ? Le vidéo du plastique me rendent triste : le monde ne fait pas attention à ces problèmes très importants. Je pense qu’il faut avoir quelques lois plus fortes pour éviter le plastique dans la mer. Par exemple, si un magasin donne des sacs plastiques aux clients, le propriétaire doit payer une amende. Ici, aux États-Unis, et au Tennessee en particulier, il n’y a pas beaucoup de lois pour limiter les plastiques, et ce n’est pas bon. Quelles lois avez-vous à la France ?
ReplyDeleteThe video in English is also sad: it shows that the changes needed to alleviate the problem are still out of reach to be implemented practically and economically. It’s a problem we should be talking about more. What do you think about it? Do you think it will be solved or are you pessimistic and expect it to worsen forever? I’m personally pessimistic and think we, as a society, will be too late to solve it.

ReplyDeleteIl y a des choses qui ne peuvent pas être remplacées par du papier, comme des bouteilles, mais qui peuvent être utilisées, ou utiliser une bouteille en métal.
Les vidéos que nous avons vues sont très tristes, je ne comprends pas comment les gens se soucient si peu de la planète. Je suis allé plusieurs fois avec mes parents ramasser les ordures à la campagne, nous avons emporté des sacs poubelles et des pincettes, avec quelques voisins et nous avons ramassé des canettes, des sacs plastiques, des pailles, des verres…
Spain has banned the utilisation of one-use plastic, that’s why we don’t use plastic straws, plastic cutlery… More than 80% of rubbish found at the sea is plastic. They found 68%of plastic in 102 sea animals. Since then things have changed a lot, supermarkets no longer have plastic bags, instead they have biodegradable bags. Doing away with single-use plastics is a great first step. Even so, from OCU we remind consumers of the need to look for effective and safe alternatives. Is there the same?

DeleteIci en États-Unis, il n'y a pas d’un prohibition nationale mais 150 états ont des redevances et des prohibitions pour l’industrie de plastique. Plus de 100 villes ont mettent prohibitions pour le polystyrène dans les publiques entreprises. Pailles du plastiques sont encore utilise, ainsi que les sacs plastiques. À mon connaissance, les règles à propos des sacs plastiques et les pailles de plastique sont imposé pas strict.
A bit of what I said in English now: plastic straws are still provided at some restaurants and fast-food places I’ve been to here in Tennessee, and I believe that most stores are still using plastic bags. However, I have noticed that many places have started using paper straws. Industrial Styrofoam has been banned for commercial businesses in California and my parents’ business is using a biodegradable pulp-type packaging now, but I’m not sure what everyone else is doing. I don’t believe that any of these rules are heavily enforced though, and I never hear people talk about the effects of plastic.

DeleteEn Amérique, il n‘y a pas beaucoup méthodes nettoyer l’océans ici. On a beaucoup littoral, le Pacifique, le Atlantique, et le côte de Golfe, alors il est très important que on travaille plus dur à garder la Terre propre. Je suis très triste que il n’y a pas un facile méthode nettoyer l’Océans parce que de marée noir. Il ne sentir pas comme si nous sommes travaillons de suffisamment est pour faire nettoyer.
America is a big country, with a lot of people, so I understand why we produce so much waste, but I feel like the laws we have in place are only to reduce the amount of waste we put into the oceans, not actually to clean the existing waste out of the oceans. It seems like such a daunting task to clean up the oceans when people are so busy with everything else in their lives. Maybe when we’re all in charge of things, we can find easier ways to take trash out of the water instead of just slowing down the amount that is still going in.

ReplyDeleteJ'ai trouvé la première vidéo choquante, particulièrement la partie qui disait que les animaux marins mangent des déchets plastiques souvent. Les araignées qui pondent des œufs dans les déchets en plastique étaient également inquiétantes. Je suis personnellement contre les sachets plastique.
I try to recycle, but here in the US much of what is put into recycling cannot be recycled, and is put into the trash anyways. The laws are slowly changing, but I personally feel that much more needs to be done. Do you believe that France’s plans to change are reasonable?

Je pense que les lois sur les déchets devraient être plus strictes aux États-Unis. Je pense aussi que tout le monde doit être plus éduqué sur le sujet. Qu'est-ce qui est différent en France ?
I personally try to recycle as much as I can. At the end of the day a major change must happen in order to make a big difference about this issue. I also think the issue is just not adressed as much as it should be. I’ve always known about the plastic in the ocean, but the videos really demonstrated the colossal amount of junk sitting around in the ocean.

Aujourd’hui, nous parlons de le pollution et les plastiques. Je suis très désolée quand j’a vu toute les plastiques à l’océan. Est-ce que il y a beacoup de pollution à France? Il n’y a pas beaucoup de pollution à Chattanooga, mais au les grande villes comme New York et Los Angeles, il y’a beaucoup de pollution. J’espère que les United States faire les loix pour diminuer cette pollution.
To clear things up, in case I messed it up in French, is that we talked about pollution and its awful effect on the environment. We also talked about ways to fix the issues of pollution. Is there a lot of pollution in France? Are there laws against pollution there? Also, what is your favorite animal?

ReplyDeleteJe me contáis las la regles avec le plastique dans mon pays. Je pense que César come en France. Le government nést tres strict avec l’utilisation du plastique. Nous respectons le changement climatique et tout et nous voulons changer la pollution mais ce n’est pas notre priorité.
Comment ils font en France. C’est similaire ou il y a d’autres idées?

As I wrote in French, in Spain we aren’t so focused in fighting against contamination and all that. We follow all the main rules, like trying not to through garbage in the floor and if we are able to, buy recyclable plastic, but in general, everything about plastic is going okay in my country, so we don’t need to worry still.
How is it in French? A lot different or exactly like us?

Dans les magasins, les sacs n’ont pas le droit d'être en plastique. mais il reste plein de choses à faire pour éviter l'aggravation du réchauffement climatique.
Mais chez moi par exemple, on trille nos déchets et on fait pousser nos herbes comme le persil, la menthe, la verveine, la basilique et tout.
Et toi, est-ce que tu fais des choses en plus de ton côté pour aider la planète? Si oui quoi?

In Finland our government tries to get people to recycle a lot. We are a small country so we can´t make that much of a difference about world´s situation with pollution or plastic. As I said in french, in Finland there´s not much of pollution as there isn´t any big cities. But the sea next to us is in a very bad shape because many oil tankers have ran aground and the oil has leaked to sea.

dégoutant. J’éspere que le monde passer à l’action pour arrêter la pollution. J’étais triste pour les animaux aussi. En les Étas Unis, il y a les loix pour le détritus, mais il n’y a pas très de loix pour la pollution. Qu’est ce que tu pense sur la loix de pollution en France?
The videos we watched in class were very interesting and showed me the urgency of pollution. It was sad to see how negatively we are affecting the marine environments. Also, it makes me want to be more conscious about how much plastic I use and how much of it that I recycle. I think there could be more rules implemented in America so that the water contamination decreases.

Hey Zoe! I hope you’re having a good day and week! The video we just watched was very informative about our world and how much pollution there is in our society. It’s so sad knowing that there’s a lot of animals in the world that are being harmed because of our littering. Also, I think that it is interesting how the soil (that is polluted) affects our water as well! There was a lot of cool information in the video and it makes me think more about how I can do better to help the problem of pollution. How is your week going?

Recycling back in Spain is way easier than in the US, we have different color trash cans for every type of material. One thing I realized when I first came to the US is that people don’t recycle that much here.
Je préfère les sacs en papier, parce que le sacs plastique pollue beaucoup.
Back at home we recycle everything and we even give the food that we don’t eat to the chickens so they can make eggs with that food, here in the US I don’t recycle at all
Bonjour Florent! Les vidéos est terrible! Je ne sais pas qu'il y a les 'dead zones' dans l'océan a cause du plastique. Aussi, c'est terrible que les animaux est mort a cause du plastique. L'usage de les palstiques est horrible pour l'environment, particulièrement les plastiques à usage unique. Dans les Êtats-Unis, il y a un peu du recyclage, mais pas beaucoup. À Baylor aussi, il n'y a pas beaucoup de recyclage. Il faut créer plus des loi concernant le plastique dans les Êtats-Unis, parce qu'il n'y a pas beaucoup. Je pense qu'il faut réglementer plus les plastiques à usage unique.
ReplyDeleteEspecially during COVID, it's harder to not use single-use plastics because of the need to keep things cleaner. Our dining hall uses exclusively Styrofoam plates, which are terrible for the environment, especially with how many we go through daily. We don't use real plates anymore because they are too hard to clean to the level needed for COVID. Anyways, how are things going with you? Everything's pretty OK over here, and I can't wait for Halloween! Are you doing anything fun for Halloween? I'm dressing up with my friend as Coraline and Wybie from the Coraline movie, and it's going to be so fun!

I think that contributing to the little things such as recycling and not littering would have a huge impact if we all thought about it. Do you think the same thing? Or do you think that the little things we do don’t have a huge impact on the amount of pollution in general? I am pretty neutral about it but am curious what you have to say.

ReplyDeleteLa année dernière, la plupart de restaurant à Chine replaçait le paille plastique par le paille papier, mais le plats à emporter ne replaçait toujours pas à cause de beaucoup personnes mangeaient à bureau de tous les jour.
Furthermore, the plastic bag in supermarket haven’t been fully replaced or change to recycled-guaranteed bag. My grandma and my family tried to use those plastic bag as much as possible as one way to keep world clean from plastic wastes.

I am very passionate about the environment and learning how to protect animals from dying due to pollution in our oceans. The U.S is trying things such as creating laws against littering and increasing the amount of things that can break down and be recycled such as paper straws. However, we as a planet still have a long way to go in this process becuase there are still masses of plastic in our oceans killing the animals that make earth so beautiful. I hope you’re doing well!

Hi! These videos are so terrible! It is crazy to me how much plastic there is in the ocean. We need to work on fixing it, but unfortunately not much progress is being made. The ‘continent’ of plastic in the ocean is the most concerning to me.

Bonjour Emma ! Comment ça va ? Je suis très bien, parce-que Halloween est bientôt ! Je déteste Halloween, mais je serait un bibliothécaire pour ma suit, et serait très amusant. Est-ce que tu a un plan pour Halloween ? A mon avis, les États-Unis est tragique a aider le environment. Le gouvernement n’est pas préoccupé par arrêter le utilisé de plastique. C’est stupide parce-que le utilisé de plastique c’est un grande problème dans les États-Unis. Je suis très gêné de les États-Unis parfois, et je suis beaucoup de problèmes avec le patriotisme. Il y a un très polémique loi que je soutiens, et c’est l’accord vert et nouveau (Green New Deal). Mais, je n’ai pas une idée si c’est encore un chose de nos jours. N’est pas bonne ! Qu’est-ce ton opinion de les règles de l’environnement dans France ? Est-ce que tu opinion forte a l’environment ? Au revoir !
ReplyDeleteHey Emma! How are you? I have had the best week so far, because it is Halloween soon, and I get to see my parents this weekend ! I also had a really good weekend, because I got to go to a music festival and see my favorite singer, Phoebe Bridgers ! I also got to see Alice Cooper, which was super cool because he’s a rock and roll legend. The use of plastic is a very political issue in the United States. Is it the same in France ? I am really excited for the month of November. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, because I get to go home for a week to see my family. What’s your favorite month ? Mine is definitely January (because it’s my birthday month), but I love November too. Is there a holiday coming up that you are excited about ? I hope you have a great week !

Je pense que les plastiques et la pollution sont un grand problème pour tout le monde. Je me sens concerné par l’environnement parce que j'ai passé beaucoup de temps dehors et dans la nature. A mon avis, je pense que le gouvernement et les grandes sociétés doivent être tenues responsables pour leur production de la pollution, surtout les plastiques. Aux Etats-Unis, le gouvernement ne fait pas assez pour aider l’environnement.
While I think these videos did a great job of exposing the visible effects of plastics on our oceans, their are so many more detrimental effects that we cannot see. At Baylor I do environmental research and my current project focuses on collecting microplastics from the bodies of fish. Not only is plastic collecting into massive piles in the ocean, it is also entering the bodies of animals and disrupting ecosystems. I think that governments, especially of very large countries like the U.S. and China urgently need to enforce regulations that limit plastic production and consumption, and we also need to develop ways to deal with the already present plastics.
Nous parlions à la plastique en classe et comment beaucoup en l’océan. Nous avions regardais une vidéo de nationale géographie. Le vidéo dit que se beaucoup de plastique en l’océan. L’animal est en danger et affrontements pour la vie.
ReplyDeleteThere are many parts of the ocean that are filled with plastic. Animals around those areas are in big danger but they don’t know what it is. The pollution is now sinking down to the bottom where it will also effect not just the surface animals but also the ones who live on the bottom of the ocean.

Je viens de voir que je n’ai pas fait cette réponse, et je n’ai pas beaucoup de temps pour regarder les vidéos une autre fois parce que je dois écrire plusieurs réponses aussi. Alors, en général, le thème de ces vidéos est très intéressant, et angoissant aussi. Il y a deux années, j'étais très conscient et active dans tout le changement climatique, et j'avais envie de changer quelque chose, mais la vérité ma mentalité a changé avec le temps.
ReplyDeleteSo, better in English I guess haha. I decided to leave the theme a part, because I discovered that from my position, it is really difficult to change things. I think that the ones who are on the top are the ones who can and have to make the change, because of course that we can’t throw trash to the sea, and that we need to try to consume the less as possible, but that’s the thing, there are not lots of possibles oppositions for the moment.
